It is the go-to size, unless you're trying hard to be different.

My 80 came with 295s. But she's got small OME lift, so it looks about right. And that truck is just about looking good.

 

My 97 was a beast in the snow with the viscous coupler. It’s too bad the 100 series got rid of that feature.

 

You're talking to the wrong guy about that. I ran 285/75/16 on my last two tacomas and most recently I'm on 315/75/16s. My truck on 315 carves up a road with good steering and manners just as it did on 285

I can’t imagine 35s on my truck. Even skinny 32s run with these terrible wheels I have.

Just cut some of the floor and firewall out they fit great, no rubbing here...









Okay, I lied a little they rub the inner wheel tub of the bed a little when you do this....




In all seriousness though, 33s fit fine with just a little hammer job on the cab corner

 

You could maybe fix it

 

tall skinny's are the way to go

 

Not sure if it needs fixing or it’s just normal for these trucks with a lift. It will need a new rack eventually.

 

My wheels are the issue, they have terrible offset like you said. Maybe them being closer in decreases stress on the running gear at least? That might be a reach tho.

 

How many miles are on it?
