Too high. I paid $17,000 for my 2004 Xtra Cab 4x4, v6 TRD Off Road (with locking differential) and manual trans. Only had 24,500 miles on it.

Just an educated guess but I think the one you're looking at should be closer to $10k, maybe $11 or $12k since double cabs usually fetch a little higher resale value.

    Is it 4x4?

Yes, it's a 4WD. I think you got a once in a lifetime deal though.

What would be a fair price. Any input from anyone would be helpful

This is true, first gens are in super high demand and the reality is that they are worth whatever someone is willing to pay. Especially if it's being sold privately. I found mine through a Toyota dealership so it was a little easier to negotiate. Private sellers won't chase you down when you walk away to try and work out a deal lol.

Since it's 4wd, clean and low miles double cab I'd offer him 14 and see what he says, but have the full amount he's asking for just in case he's firm on it and won't budge. Because chances are someone else is looking at it too and ready to spend it. These things go fast.

Not sure what climate you're in but have you looked at it underneath for frame rust? I've seen some real clean looking Tacomas on the outside but the frame underneath makes them no-good.

I wish I found a deal like yours! Yeah its clean underneath, no rust issues. It's at a dealer so I'm trying to negotiate them down. I'll keep ya'll posted. I'm in the dry climate of NM and this one is in CO.

I almost bought an similar truck yesterday dble cab, TRD offroad, SR5, towing etc. in Scottsdale for 14.5k w/106k miles. But it had a peeling clearcoat. Someone picked it up before me though. I was 2nd in line

No way that is a 10K truck as suggested. I shopped last 6 months for a 1 gen to replace my 2nd gen access cab, while my 16 was on order. Now I have a 16 and a 01.

I would say the truck you are looking at is worth 13800$ all day here in LA. Personally I would pay $15,000 for the truck you are looking at.

Three double cabs were sold from underneath me, within hours of being posted at dealerships.

That's how I feel and what I've experienced. Lost on another 1 owner, 03 dble cab, TRD off road SR5, 4wd etc with 89k miles in phoenix. He was asking 16.5k. I offered him 15.5k. He sold it for his asking price 3hrs later.

I looked in a 700 mile radius. I lost out in PHX, SFO, SD, and LA.

    Finally found one.

Arizona seems to be the holy land for all low mileage first gens. Mine with 24k miles on it came from Arizona. Well, I bought it in San Diego but it was driven there from Arizona that week.

01 Prerunner, quad cab. For me it is a truck that needs to be used in a Date Farm. One owner. White. All records. I didn't want to deal with timing belt replacement.

Depends how much you are willing to pay for one now and how much it fits your needs. I paid $15k for my '01 DC PreRunner 2.7L in 2005 with 68,000 miles. I'd say $11-12K, but I'm sure someone will come along paying asking price.

They won't budge on price but I'm making sure they do/document the 90k mile service was done before I commit.

Totally agree with this. If you wont buy it at $13k, someone will shortly. I too would pay $15K. I waited for the exact color, year and options I wanted and pounced on it.

Just a matter of what you want. These well cared for Gen 1s go fast as they are the best looking Toyota trucks made. Each Gen is uglier and fraught with electrical bullshit and issues.

Yep. Mine was an AZ truck and had it trucked here to TX. Sight unseen bought it after a friend did a thorough inspection and post-independent mechanical inspection. Damn mechanic offered to buy it from my friend it was that good. I didn't haggle and wired $12K cash. 112K miles, mint condition 04 TRD in Sand Pearl Black. Sorry boys..its best color going

I paid 9k for mile about 2 years ago with 162k on the odo..

    Double cab
    4x4
    Super clean
    100% rust free frame

Honestly didn't want one with this many miles BUT these are great motors and had been looking on cl in the socal area for months before I found one i liked... then it sold in about 30 minutes.

I told myself that even if the motor went out an i needed a rebuild i still wouldn't be paying the 15k is people are asking.

Also did a free inspection from toyota... came out perfect!

    just my 2 cents

(also a az truck that recently moved to sd)

I paid 6k Canadian for my 2004 sr5 4x4 with 102k on it. It looks pretty damn clean to me.
