the potential was there for this truck, but as others have said, frame has cancer, not extreme but will take work. I made offer on it but he sees prices online and thinks he will get it, prob will from someone who doesn't know. real shame, i thought i found the Tacoma Unicorn!!!

I just got my 01 Prerunner a couple months ago, twd, 4cyl, 171k, dub cab, with bed extender, excellent body with the new frame in 2013 due to the recall, for $6500. Good deal?

Putting Kuhmo AT-51 tires on soon, debating on whether or not get matte black rims as well, but I'm not sure if I want to spend the money. I'm thinking about getting the current rims cleaned up and painted or powder coated.

My buddy's looking at an '04 extended cab 4x4 TRD auto with 170k miles, pretty clean, , good title, new timing belt. Is $7500 a good price on those?

$7500 doesn't sound out of line to me...I would still try to get it for $7k or less if possible. Does it have a new frame from the recall that was issued for the 01 to 04 models? If so, then I wouldn't want to pass it up.

I paid $7500 for my 01 DC with 297 k miles. Was 1 owner spent the last 16 winters in AZ. Owner told me about 100 k was towed behind his motor home. Interior is perfect and timing belt was changed twice with the last one about 2 k miles ago. I bought it thinking about flipping it but I really like driving it. Plus the gas mileage is a lot better than my tundra.20171214_140225.jpg

Picked up my 2003 4x4 TRD 4 door with 65k in TN for $13,800. Automatic. Two owner. Immaculate, appears to have mostly sat in a garage. Wasn't a steal but I'm certain I could turn it for a small profit tomorrow if needed.

Now just have to sell my 2002 manual xtra cab 3.4.... anyone in Nashville looking?

From what I see, 1st gen prices are still floating up if anything. Especially low mile 4x4 double cabs, those things are crazy.

Bought my taco last year bone stock with 117k on the clock 4x4 for 10.2k in TN with ZERO rust, barely any surface rust. Did timing belt kit with new water pump and belts, new lower ball joints, then installed OME up front with AAL. Prices ARE going up and will continue. Love the thread.

Trying to sell my 96 Ext cab 4x4 V6 manual, 157k, no rush, ARB bumper/compressor/locker/lift for $8k and having a heck of a time. Maybe its just too hard for people to get loans but there has to be someone with cash right?

Normally a modded Tacoma would not command the same price as a bone stock sample. I would suggest to remove all the parts and sell them separately then sell your truck stock.

I agree. If I was to buy a truck I wouldn't look into lifted or lowered, armored or "off-road" modified truck as I wouldn't trust the modification were done in a way that did not screw up the excellent Toyota quality and design. On the top of that the "off-road" looking truck suggests it was abused off road. The latest example was @skedrc problems described in https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...forgot-to-put-it-in-4wd.572705/#post-18915396. I'm not saying your truck has any issues, it is just the look that scares people out.
