I really like the style of these, although, I wish they had some of the features of the 2nd gen. The top mounted oil filter is sure nice...

I had an 03 Tacoma. Pretty good truck, just too small.

I like my 2nd gen 05 Tacoma better. More room, more power, better brakes for when I tow my boat.

I like the 2nd gen for comfort, family hauling, and as a grocery getter,,, i prefer the 1st gen for wheelin. Smaller size suits me better on the trails.

    I have my 09 2nd gen and I have a 96 2wd.

Im looking for a 1st gen that I can build into a trail killer.

The second generation Tacoma's will win the poll only because there are more members driving the second generatuion trucks :crapstorm: . But to answer your question, While the second generation has some improved features, I still prefer the first generation Tacomas. :yay:

1st gens are nice 01-04. But I love my 2nd gen. Roomier interior, better bed liner, bigger, and it looks better IMO.

I love my 1st Gen because of all the things I can do to it. Don't like the seatbelt dinger? Unplug it. Don't like the lock/unlock beep? Unplug it. Don't like the restrictor on the rear diff? Make a new ground.

Working on Taconut's truck and my mom's FJ really make me appreciate how simple the 1st Gens are. The only thing I wish I had is that monstrous 1GR-FE. :D

Never did like the funky looking fender design of the 2nd gens. Didn't even know the 2nd gens don't have steel beds. I'd always be afraid of tossing my tools and chains in the back.

I can't help but feel that the first gen tacos are actually a bit better-made than the 2nd generation tacos. There's something a bit cheap looking about the new trucks. That and as someone else mentioned, the first gen trucks are super-simple to work on... as if you hardly ever have to do it to begin with...
