1st gen hands down, looks, durability, power, longevity can't beat!!
Bought it new, still running strong, most my friends have replaced there trucks 3 times, lol
1st gen rule the roost with 300,400,500,000 miles, NOT the 2nd gen!!
But if you want more space and a softer ride, go with the 2nd gen.

I'm looking for my first truck since my '92 Toyota, and can't decide on which generation. I have the funds for a new one, but really just want something to haul my mountain bike around in and take off road in SoCal for biking and hiking trips. Not a daily driver per se, but will see lots of highway miles. I'm a pretty good DIY'er and I think doing maintenance/mods is fun.

Are there "too many miles" to consider when buying used? I'm considering 1st and 2nd Gen only at this point.

when I had my 1st gen I wanted a 2nd gen, now that I have my 2nd gen I want to go back to a 1st gen. I will probably end up with both, but the first gen does feel more like a real truck to me than the 2nd gen.

So if anyone has a first gen in good condition having all the regular maintenance and is looking to sell near San Antonio...
