Yeah, I'm wondering what gen us 01-04 guys are then, if first gen is 95.5-00 and 05- are second gens.

I guess we are like the guys that wives dont want their husbands to know about...:D

I've had both, lifted both, driven both on all types of terrian. Infact I have done just about everything in both, and hands down the 2nd GEN is better in every single way. If you feel other wise thats fine, but you may be living in a fantasy world.

1st gens are awesome for what they are. It's just like taking the woman you love and getting her a boob job, 4 inch longer legs, fuller lips, and the desire to satisfiy you in everyway whenever you want. Thats the diff that I found. You still love her now but just think how good it could be. :)

lets see how good it COULD be

rattles, shakes, shudders, easily scratched dash, tsbs, larger payment, wont fit 15" wheels, smaller bed space

ehh, some of those are true lol. i have a reg cab 4WD with the 3RZ and get around 23 highway/city mileage, and about 27-28 on the interstate alone. id like to see the heavier 2nd gen 4wd's do that ;)

    i think you misunderstood

those are all issues with the NEW gen

my truck aint got them problems

mine works GREAT...no need to upgrade!

i test drove the 05s and fell in love back then...then test drove the truck im driving now...i wouldnt trade it for an 05+ under MOST circumstances

ohh haha yeah...def. a misunderstanding. i drove a used '07 TRD double cab and i just didnt like the bulkiness of it, so i tried the standard 4wd reg cab 2.7 5 speed. i liked it pretty well, but then i put it into 5th and it just died lol....has an EXTREMELY tall 5th gear

i must admit, the 2nd gens look great with a mesh grille, whereas the 1st gens dont really look that good, IMO.

For me, the placement it perfect. My truck has a manual transmission, so if I need to change the radio station my arm is in the same position basically as when I shift.[/quote]

im in 100% agreement with that. thats what i love about my truck also haha

the shifter is in the perfect place in the 1st gen. 3rd gear is the radio control gear, and 4th is perfect for resting my elbow on the center console.

thats right, i will sometimes downshift in order to change the radio.
