    upload_2023-7-12_15-8-21.jpgSo i got this 99 Prerunner 3.4l V6 A340E RWD that has a center support bearing that has gone out twice on me twice so far. this last one only lasted 600 miles, in between this I put some stock replacement leaf springs, which lifted it about an inch. It all feels great after I get out from under it, its all still loosening up and breaking in but anyway my dad replaced the support bearing, he took the entire shaft assembly off and we matchmarked it but I just noticed the sleeve yoke flange is like less than 90 degrees off, its not even 90!!! idk help me out someone!!! I thought I saw an FSM page that showed how to match up the zerk fittings? its looks like the weights were tack'd on like this becuase I dont see any matchmarks on the sleeve/spleens. FSM says runout on the companion flange is .009 so I guess i have to go learn how to use a dial indicator.

    Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
    Ate you getting lots of vibration in the drive shaft.

    Just what brand carrier bearings did you buy?

    I replaced mine about 125,000 miles ago with the Spicer bearing. So far so good.

    The pictures you snapped of the DS look correct. The CB looks off though. Is it new? Don't waste on aftermarket, go grab a legit Spicer or just suck it up and order a new one from toyota. Info below should help with assembly. Don't forget the spacers on the carrier bearing.

    Just be sure the center line is correctly lined up. Eyeball it.

    I think he might have, but forgetting one of those spacers would cause run out correct? it looks like theres run out of the companion flange, but I need to fix the bearing first to see what phase the run out is. The FMS says when you replace it you have to match the spleens inside of the IDS - torque it, then back it off 1 rotation and torque it again? i dont think he did that either, but we put the DS of exactly like we took it off, used a rat tail to match it and everything, nothing on the sleeve tho, but im pretty sure he never slipped it out. Funny you ask if its new, the car fax says it was "rear ended" probably a month after it was bought back in 98 and then got it repo'd.

    So its gradually getting worse, but the roads up here where i am are terrible. After I saw a few videos of guys diagnosing excess run out in the drive shaft i kinda started feeling it more, but the leaf spring anbd u bolts are brand new so they still have a couple hundred more miles to go till they settle in. thing is the stock springs were 300k miles old so putting these in stiffed things up to where they loosened other things
    I got both of the bearings at Napa Auto Parts 1st from washington and this one i just got here in Napa CA seems like a really good one, its got a bit more of a burnish to it. I'm about to go put this new one on and see if I notice anything on the dial indicator.

    Carrier bearing brand / quality is a BIG deal. I was low on cash and got Moog U Joints and whatever brand carrier bearing AutoZone had. Both failed in a few hundred miles. They were installed correctly. Spicer or OEM is the only way to go for the carrier bearing. I ended up replacing both with OEM and haven't had any issues since.

    Those weights on the rear yoke look EXCESSIVE to say the least. I would pull the drive shaft, get a Spicer carrier bearing in there, and then take it to a drive line shop to be rebalanced.

    The picture you have pointing out the gap between the 3rd member housing and pinion flange (labeled Runout?) is normal.

    @Adam1 -- This.

    In yellow, that is stock. purple lines - that one is not (WTF?). Someone tweaked it. What Andy said, take it into a shop at this point. Balancing needs to be checked. Might need to replace that slip yoke. Something is wonky.

    EDIT: you mentioned it was rear-ended. Perhaps that is the repair shop's handy work in correcting an imbalance due to the rear end collision. Still, I'd have it checked. Ouch.
