Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
Proof that Ryan sells quality products...

6 herniated discs from lifting all 3 skids at once moving them from the porch to the garage.

Also proof that I'm an idiot, because I knew better and thought to myself BEFORE I did it that I shouldn't.

Shit, that's not good. I lift 15 packages into my truck by myself sometimes.

Herniated discs in your cervical spine?

Typically, you will herniate in your lower spine, when lifting heavy objects. Hmmm... this is interesting, but unfortunate nonetheless.

Skids came today and I couldn't be happier. Great quality. Oh, and my wife and a female FedEx driver unloaded them.

Fellas, I need TW to make my decision for me:

I'm struggling between going with the 1/8" for light weight, since I'm not going to be rocking an SC anytime soon, versus the 3/16 for the burliness. I'm predisposed to overkill, so I'm thinking the 3/16 is the way to go, but dammit, I can't decide! Help a brother out!

I leave it up to your disposition to running over rocks that would use your skids. If you do a lot and plan to do rock crawling then 3/16. But if you plan to stay to trails you know you can do then 1/8.

In other words. If you plan on using them 3/16. If you want them for just in case go for 1/8". They are 66% of the weight. 87 vs 123#. And if you need a little more strength from bending you could weld angle iron on and get better strength at less weight.

    Great points!

My concern is that the ONE TIME that 3/16 might save my unlucky ass, I won't have them. Since my vision for my truck is more of a jack of all trades expo ride, I'm tempted to go with the 1/8, but I'm starting to think that 3/16, perhaps even with some added bracing, is just good insurance.

    Thanks again for the input!

From what you say 1/8 sounds fine. It depends on how much weight you have and what gears and what engine. My 4 cylinder 4.30s are maxed out with about as much weight as one could add. 3/16 would be great although every ounce saved is worth it at this point. To your point, I believe 1/8 will work the same as 3/16. It's just up to bending. So like 3/16 won't bend, 1/8 will. But both will get you out of a situation.

It would take many big hits to deform 1/8" to the point where it is not protecting anymore. Even 3/16" will bend if you go hard enough. But just because it is bent does not mean it is not usable or protective. If it does bend you can pound it flat with a hammer.

If you are thinking you want a full set, I only have 3/16" left in stock, so that should make the decision easier. I have both thicknesses in rack coverage skids.

Thankfully, I was leaning toward the 3/16 lately. Just sent the PayPal funds, @RAT PRODUCTS!

Nice. Just got mine, and I'm hoping to get them on within a week or two. Gotta get the lift and fender tubbing done first...
