Does it work well to update the speakers without updating the stock receiver/amp? It's a 2000 SR5 4x4 TRD. Eventually I want a double din with video for reversing and GPS but that sounds like the wiring would be tougher than I'd want to do. Or is it easy to wire such a thing? iPhone hookup would be awesome though!! So if there's an easy way to hook up an iPhone and upgrade the sound quality that'd be great. Thanks in advance for any help!

Can anyone recommend a double din with video and maybe GPS and high quality speakers? 6.75 fits I think.

Crutchfield is your friend when finding stuff that fits. Crutchfield and Amazon are good places for reviews. Considering the age of your truck you will want to replace the deck and speakers together. You will not get great sound out of aftermarket speakers on a stock deck.

I would suggest looking at a double din that has Apple Carplay/Android Auto. Then you won't need nav (which is a pita to keep updated on a deck).

As for brands, Pioneer, Kenwood and Alpine have always done well for me. I have been installing my own car stereos for 15+ years. Several of those years I sold and installed car stereo at Best Buy.

    Hope this helps.

I second using Crutchfield as the resroce to see what fits. Their web site is great and it will get you going down the right path. If you stick with a decent brand head unit and go double-din, as @medjah suggested, you'll be fine.

For speakers, if your not going to rrun an amp, I'd suggest getting JL audio TR-650s, or a similar speaker with a good efficiency rating. Also, get some Dynamat or Hushmat and sound-deaden your doors when you have them apart putting in new speakers.

    Good luck!

Damn. I forgot Dynamat. Seriously, the simple speaker kit makes a big difference. Of course the 2 door kit is much better but also requires a lot more work.
