I think that you will be OK with the stock UCAs, I don't even think that I needed them, but I really wanted them.

Just curious on why you went with the OME route vs an adjustable coilover? I was looking at OME because I know they make great quality products, but after buying springs and struts its almost a wash to get the coilovers.

I obviously have a Frontier (wanted a 1st gen dbl cab Taco, but they were close to the same price as a brand new Frontier :(), but its pretty much the same suspension setup as Tacoma's. I think there has only been a few Frontiers that have gone the OME route, as most go PRG or ICON coilovers. No one has even done the adjustable bilsteins as they are said to ride pretty stiff when adjusted all the way up.

Also, Frontiers have issues with the UCA hitting the coil bucket when the get lifted anymore than 2" in the front and thats why we have to install UCA's, do Yota's run into that too, or is pretty much an alignment issue?

The coils and shocks are a less expensive route to go in the front and I did not need the adjustability. I can always upgrade in the future. I chose OME based on recommendations from some members who have had experience with the setup and the reputation with the product across the board.

As far as the UCAs go, They help with the alignment and also allow more downward flex then the stock UCAs with which the upper ball joint tends to bind.

Glad I found this thread. You truck looks very smooth with the lift.
The steps you have outlined makes me think that I could handle it. (with help of course)
Question. Is the replacing the leaf spring needed when doing front and back shocks? I guess it depends on the status of the leaf spring. But I guess since you got the back up, why not change the leaf. But if $$ is a issues, not doing the leaf should be ok.

    Thanks!!

    Thanks.

You don't need to jack up the rear of the truck to change out the shocks (I think that is what you are implying). If your rear springs are ok, might as well just leave them. Mine were pretty shot and I wanted some lift back there. Well, that and the wife said I could get the whole thing, so I took advantage of her temporary insanity.

The job is not that tough. I had the front shocks and springs assembled by Wheelers when I bought them, so they popped right in. The rear had some rust issues, but nothing that the grinder couldn't handle.

Good luck, let me know how you make out.

Thanks man. I looked closer this afternoon. The leafs are starting to look negative. I guess that is 163,000 worth of ride on them. I would love to get them assembled (would help me out).
Also, how can I get my wife to go a little temp insane :) Classic and true point man.
Plan to bookmark this thread for use in the future!!

As far as the insanity thing, good luck.

I sent this thread to everyone who just bought the Wheeler's replacement leafs on the group buy. Great attention to detail on the process--more than I've seen on any other leaf pack swap writup on any other site. Much ass grassy ass!
