I can confirm that you could get a factory sun/moon roof option on a 1999.

According to the 2000 Toyota brochure a Limited was offered, options were the TRD off road package, defroster linked CFC free A/C, One touch Hi-4 selector switch, locking rear diff (which came with the TRD pack), ABS brakes, and the pop up sunroof.

My understanding is there was no "Limited" badge, it was just how the truck was optioned.

I have a 2000 Tacoma 4x4 Xtracab TRD Limited. Has "Limited" badge on tailgate and on both cab "C" pillars. I ordered it late 99. It replaced my 95 1/2 SR5 that was totaled. I had to get the Limited to get the same Sport Seats that were in my 95 1/2 SR5. They are much better than the regular bucket seats. Bigger side bolsters, lumbar support etc. Same grey cloth interior on them both.
Has dealer installed headers, cat back exhaust and Supercharger. 177,000 trouble free miles.
No sunroof. 4x4 lever on console . I didn't want the push button 4x4 switch on the dash.
It must be a pretty rare truck. I've only seen one other "Limited" 1st generation Tacoma. 18.5 mpg.

Anyone happen to know if the stock 07 Sport alloys below will fit on a 99 4x4 Tacoma? From what I've researched, the bolt pattern is the same. Not sure if the hub bore lines up though. Have read another post stating someone put 265/75r16 tires on stock 99 wheels with no problems. I'm selling my stock 07 Sport rims with 265/75r17 tires on them and looks like this will match up just about perfect.

2007 TRD Sport Alloy Wheels: 17x7.5, +30 mm offset, 5.5" backspacing, 6x5.5" bolt pattern, 108 mm hub bore, ? lbs

Are you going to mention how fun it is to change the wheel bearing on these compared to 2nd gens? I didn't see anything about the wheel bearings

This post has been a lot of help for me.

I noticed on the first page it says that both the 3.4 and 2.7 are non interference engines. I was under the impression that the 2.7 was an interference engine and it would be trouble if it went wrong.

Just curious as I am looking at both engines for a future truck.

Someone that knows more than I will correct me - but I believe the 2.7 is a non-interference timing chain, and the 3.4 is an interference and a timing belt.

Not sure on the 2.7, but the 3.4 is non-interference timing belt.

This thread has been really helpful! I'm looking at 2003 Double Cab with about 150k miles. If it has leather, does that mean that it has the limited seats which are more comfortable? Thank you!

Thank you all. Thanks to this thread I discovered that the new-to-me SR5 2001 4x4 V6 Extra Cab 5-Speed I just bought is actually very close in spec to the TRD Off Road. Basically, the biggest difference is the locker. The Bilsteins, the coils, the leafs, the wheels and the badging I don't care about... I'm replacing all those anyway. So, if I install a diff locker, such as an ARB air-locker, I'll have the same performance out of my SR5 as the TRD.

The higher mileage isn't a concern?

maybe at that price, but then you consider the lift the bumper the wheels/tires (that's what i meant above, depends on how much you like those upgrades). frame and underside look in good shape in the one picture, but id definitely poke around under there.
