7 years ago, I prototyped an Apple iPhone Magsafe Mount that installs in the place of the passenger airbag switch on any 98-04 Toyota Tacoma. I went through many iterations to fine tune the mount to have it snap into the dash as well as be friction fit for the Magsafe puck. I used to sell these through a 3D Printing service company called Shapeways, but they went out of business this past summer (July 2024).

I have now tweaked the design to improve the strength and ability to print on machines that I have access to locally. It is created in two parts out of PETG, the mount that snaps into the dash and the piece that holds the Magsafe puck.

The result is a seamless design that completely hides the power cable behind the dash. You just simply hold your iPhone up to it and it connects. I have yet to have my phone fall off the dash when driving over the past 7 years (using an Apple leather magsafe case).

These require the NEWER iPhone Magsafe puck that has the braided cable: https://amzn.to/4a2T7Xm
The older one is a slightly different size and will not work.

If you want to be able to do fast charging, you will need a 20W or greater USB-C power supply. I have been using this one: https://amzn.to/4fKjdzI
I have a 12v socket wired behind the dash like this one: https://amzn.to/3Piuf4i

I am currently working on building a discrete usb-c power supply for this that will be plug-n-play onto the cig lighter circuit.

Here is a link to the product on my website, currently selling for $30: https://nzbsculpture.com/store/98-04-toyota-tacoma-apple-magsafe-dash-mount

I have your "older" design and I love it. No bulky holders and no damaging of the panels. Best one out there IMO.

Just ordered a couple. I’ve been looking for a good phone holder for a while and this looks solid!

Do you have installation instructions you can share? Does this just snap onto the bezel somehow and the airbag switch stays in place behind the mount? Thanks.
