Do you have any pics of the before and after? I have a 1998 xtra cab v6 and that's the setup I was looking at. And the spring you removed was that the upper overload spring?

The spring removed was the 3rd spring from the bottom as per the fine folks from wheelers offload, fairly straight forward removal REALLY made a difference. I have to scrounge for the pics but will post when I do find them.

I did not take any pictures of the truck when I first put the suspension on, only after the leaf removal.

That's where I am confused, because when I contacted them they said the second from the bottom which is the top overload spring. But according to you its the third leaf from the top. Frustrating...

I'm looking for a similar ride to what you have.

I currently just have daystar spacers and the front just sits a little higher than the rear.

Hi! I have a question about this setup, as my load sounds similar. Are you saying that you carry 300-700# IN ADDITION TO the plywood platform and topper, or does that range include that setup??

I'm researching new leaf springs and leaning toward the OME Setup w AAL. My current truck setup is a plywood platform, a topper that is likely heavier than most (WilderNest, ~275#), and also a hitch mount swing away bike rack carrying 1-2 bikes. No front equipment. I also load up the bed with camping gear for trips of 1-2 people (2 light passengers totaling max ~280 lbs together). Would also like to be able to tow lightly as needed (small fishing boat or similar), when I'm not running the bike setup.

Trying to figure out which way to go. I won't even tell y'all what the current suspension is bc it's squatty crap lol.

sorry for being that guy bringing up an old post, but was reading through this thread with this exact question. Lots of good info for sure but doesn't look like anyone had an opinion(s) for this guy. I am also curious about best way to go for a new leaf pack w/ lots of weight (~400lbs) in the back? OME + aal best way to go as far as bang for buck?

did some research and it seems the way to go is the All Pro expedition pack. they’re like actually designed/built for off-roading with weight while still being progressive which is supa cool

if anyone in this thread has experience with em please feel free to confirm/correct me or let me know how they are!

Throwing my 2 cents in. I have the OME stuff all the way around. I am replacing the rear leafs as they have been absolutely inadequate for the weight. They even have the add a leaf.
My truck is a dedicated family adventure rig and gets real heavy in the rear. I’m looking at the All Pro expedition leafs but am also wondering if there is anything else out there.
The OME leads are a really nice quality replacement for the stock leafs. I didn’t realize this until recently. I thought they could handle a lot of extra weight but they can not. Lessons learned.

i had the same experience with the OME + AAL. Sagged onto the bump stops with RTT and a bed full of camping supplies. I went with the All Pro Expo leafs after and honestly they were not much better, but to be fair I bought those used.
I finally went with custom Alcans and have never looked back. Way more expensive than off the shelf sets but light years better for handling the weight and ride quality overall

Talking with Alcan now. Just ran and got my truck weighed for them. Do you remember what your rear weight was on yours when you had them build you something custom?

Honestly I don't, it was back in 2020 when I got my set. I do remember I just kind of winged it/guess-timated lol. They had me fill out a little questionnaire as I recall asking about how much weight I carried on average, how much lift height I wanted, etc. It might be different now as I do remember they were trying to sell the company not long after that.

Later when I'm at my computer I can try and dig up the email exchanges I had with them

I can also vouch for being happy with the Alcan leafs. Make sure you are clear with Lew on the amount of lift you request. Lew measures lift based on stock rear being 1-1/2” higher than the front. If you want the truck to ride level with a 2 inch lift in front, then in Lew’s parlance that is a half inch lift in the rear. That was my experience last year. Point being, clarify what you are getting before finalizing your order.

Just got a quote from Alcan about $1000 for a pair un-shipped. Sounds like I will be getting these over the all-pro expedition as they are basically the same price and I can customize the lift and load. thank you @eon_blue for the tip.
