I just swapped out my stock wheels with wheel adapters for new wheels with the proper backspacing. Took some pics to show the difference.

    backspace_22604be6a4c33031394800e5650644f97db9f6df.jpg

I believe you have that backwards, although the terms get thrown around interchangeably.

Spacers = a disc (typically with a bunch of holes to accommodate various lug patterns) for the purpose of small decreases in backspace and for making wheels fit.

Adapters = a solid chunk of aluminum with wheel studs installed for the purpose of changing bolt patterns to adapt to wheels with a different pattern. Since they have new wheel studs they can be much thicker and used for larger decreases in backspacing.

Not trying to nitpick, just clarify. Living in PA where the law says you can only have a maximum 1/4" spacer you need to be able to argue that a 1.5" adapter is different and therefor legal. ;)

I'll be selling my 1.5" adapters that I just pulled off my truck if anyone is interested. I gotta look if there is any branding stamped on them, can't remember what brand they were or where I got them, been running them for a number of years.

youll definitly get some rubbing on the frame when you got the wheel cut all the way,and your going to need to do some trimming on some plastic. youll also be damn handy to the UCAs. 4.5'' BS is the same as stock, youll need at least a 4'' BS to clear everything.

Really? The 265's i have on now have lots of room around. What do you mean "damn handy to the UCA's" ??? Also 4.5" BS was what i measured on my rims. what do you mean stock? I need some info before i purchase the tires. Thanks

i mean theyre going to be closer to the uca the 285s are wider then the 265s. i was just stating that the wheels that you have on are of the same BS as stock is all.

Right I think they are 5.5 or 5.25. So I'm at either 4.25" like you said, or 4". Which would be the best for 285/75/16 because of the frame rub and the UCA because at 4.5 it's going to be very close, if not rubbing, like you said.

It's not so much the material but the machining tolerances.

I 'am currently out of town right now but ill upload a picture of my truck when i get home 2" spacers torqued 75lb with loc-tite you need to use loc-tite or you'll be fucked i big reason why people are against spacers is that wheels have been known to come off make sure there put on properly and torqued down.

bigger tires will rub if you dont have a suspension lift in the front my buddy's running 33's on stock rims with a 3" suspension lift and no spacers and his tires are not rubbing, my truck 2.5 suspension lift two inch body on 33's stock rims 2" wheel spacers rub like hell cut out some of the plastic and it only rubs a lil bit on sharp turns.
