Little update: insurance quotes me $251 a month.... (currently pay $90ish). Looks like I'm gonna stick with my 1st gen lol. New headlights, bedliner, and toolbox are in the works.

I tell you if you will drive your 3rd gen in S5 gear it's a whole different truck!! Look at the tranny gearing from a gen 2 and a gen 3. 5th is .69 on gen 3 and it's .72 on a gen 2. That 6th gear in the gen 3 isn't need unless you're going 75 down the interstate. Once I started driving my truck in S5 I absolutely love the truck.

    Too few to list.
    Off topic but...
Keeping it stock? I've done a few mods but nothing major. I just want to improve drive-ability.
    1) BMR CB005 - It's a must for these cars, real night and day difference.
    2) MGW Shifter - Another must for daily driving.
    3) BMR SP080 - Performance springs. If I was to do it over, I would choose SP089 - minimum drop
    4) JLT catch can - You'd be amaze on how much it catches in 500 miles.
    5) Bama tune - It pulls harder but I'm sure a dyno tune would be much better
    6) Borla S-type - A little louder than I thought - If I was to do over, touring would be it.
    7) Mishimoto Induction Hose - I can feel a little difference but not sure if it was worth the $125
    8) Amsoil fluids in trans, axle, motor - Seems smoother all around.

I have 3 cars. This is why I have little money for mods. Only thing done to the 1st gen is the maintenance mod.

That's a big jump in insurance cost. I guess it varies with location and driving/usage. My 2nd gen cost me about $300 a year full coverage with $500 deductible and 300/100/50 limits. Again, usage/location/experience/discount varies.

I guess my biggest thing is I'm 21.
That cost was with a 20% discount too... insane.

It's no big deal. I was honestly not impressed by the 3.5 6MT. I like my 3.4 5MT better.

Gonna just "spruce up" my '02 a little and be happy.

    -New headlights
    -Bedliner
    -Toolbox
-General HD leafs (I tow a fair amount)
    -A very thorough detail.

That's most likely it. Your rate won't go down until age 25.
Besides, I think the 3.4 in 5speed drives much better than the 3.5. Keep it.

Was there anything specific you did not like about the 3.5 6 speed combo?

I felt the low-end was pathetic, and the gears weren't as smooth at my current 5 speed.
