Any thoughts on a tool box for my 2001 extended cab. I am trying to stay around $300, black crossover with gull wing. My issue is that almost everything I see is diamond plate and I am looking for a smooth uncluttered look. I haven't seen anything in aluminum flat plate. The Lund/Tradesman 76550 61" in steel looks like a good choice but I have seen some reviews that the coatings aren't very good and it rust out in a year or so.

I was just wondering if there might be other options that anyone had tried and was happy with.

Here is a shot of my Tradesman box. It isn't smooth aluminum but as you said, I haven't seen a smooth plate either.
For this, it was not a direct fit. I had to plasma the corners near the fender well an TIG in patches.

    Hope this helps you.

Looks nice man. How much did you have to mod it. Just a little or pretty extensive.

I just purchased a 2004 Quad Cab SB and want to put a box in the bed. I have looked at the Lowes Kobalt box, both 12" and 19", but they dont look like they will clear the fenderwells. Anyone have some suggestions?
    Thanks

The modification didn't take long, maybe an hour once I figured out what I needed to remove.
I did speak to a rep @ SEMA the same year I bought it. He swears the part number was to be a direct fit. I informed him it wasn't but I don't think he believed me.
Either way, it fits now. The dual handles are a nice feature.

    Good luck.
