I built this truck rack for my 2001 Tacoma. It is pegged mortise & tenon joinery, so there are no screws, glue, or nails. It is bolted to the truck bed however. I do not know how much weight it will hold, but it is solid and will carry several hundred pounds. I plan to add a few vertical wood supports on the inside of the bed to help support the bed sides. I used redwood for most of the build but had problems with it breaking, so I changed the top cross beams to rough cut douglas fir. All pegs are 1/2" oak. The 4x4 post angle (the lean in) is 14 degrees661F73E6-062C-41CE-B3D8-7ACD05650300.jpg 536F5EB2-9568-4AE9-8532-C6220BDCF77A.jpg 58CAB4F8-B62A-4DA5-A744-8D63E10F5D09.jpg26F39C89-103F-4985-81B8-239C53F0DFE4.jpg

I saw this build on a Ford F-150 built by a timber framer in Virginia whose skills are off the charts.

Super cool. I wish I had better woodworking skills. Just never needed to develop them, much more comfortable with metal so I dig seeing stuff like this.

I spent about $200 in materials. Thank you all for the kind words.
