Rent a trailer and a truck that can tow the load. tow dollies suck. Or just call a tow company. It may suck to spend 100 bucks but I'd rather spend a 100 a d have no issues than spend 30 and deal with a dolly.

I had no problems towing with a dolly. I’ve towed both. In fact I preferred the Dolly over the Auto Transport because it handled better.

It was an interesting experience, but it still worked fine.

I think the dolly is out as an option because U-Haul says they're only for towing FWD vehicles.

Not true. You can disconnect the rear driveline.

I know, but will they still allow you to rent it since they say only for towing FWD?

I still say pay a tow to haul it. Not worth the trouble, disconnecting driveline, returning the dolly (or trailer) with another vehicle and driver, the strain on your vehicle, half a day of your time, etc. I know you can do one-way rental, but it's a lot more expensive, and is there a U-Haul center at each end of OP's route?

If you want to save money, then a dolly is fine. Tows are damn expensive.

A lot of great food for thought. I'm going to look to borrow a bigger truck and get trailer. I checked on a few towing co. and they want $300 plus.

Yep. Towing is expensive. Very cheap if you do it yourself
