Hey guys/gals - I built a dog platform for my 2000 xtra cab and have sold the truck. I built another for my 2nd gen.

Anyway - I have a dog platform for the xtra cab, fits great, no rattles, and it's strong enough you can sleep on it if you wanted to.

If you're in the SW Chicago area, it's yours for free or I'm going to dismantle it and use the wood in other projects. I can't ship it. Let me know if you're interested.

Shoot, I wish I were in your area! Do you have any pictures? I'm curious to see what it looks like.

You could also post it up in the thread for members giving away free things if you haven't already, which is somewhere on here.

It's in two pieces so it's easy to remove and put in the bed if you need the passenger space.

I covered it with an old camping mat I had, which helped my dog dig his claws into so he wasn't slipping around. He's a good sized German Shepherd at just less than 100lbs. It sits on 2x4 feet but it's open enough under it that I was able to add tool clamps to the bottom of the platform and attach a hand axe, entrenching tool, & flashlight.
I can't take credit for the idea - A poster in the 1st gen forum basically provided the dimensions for it. If I can find the link I'll post it. Otherwise a search should turn it up.

    Here's the basics:
    Dog platform
    Start with 2 rectangles 22 1/4 x 25 1/2
3.5" foot sits on the transmission hump.
The 6" foot sits next to the seat belt anchor,
the 7" sits behind the seat.

I notched out a section behind the passenger seat to make it easier for a big dog to jump in and out.

I'd like someone to be able to use it. I built another for my 2015 with the seat bottoms removed which gives me enough room for both my shepherds now.
