Same. The next vehicle I get for myself (I’m not including the daily driver/family car) will be a sports car. It’ll probably be old as dirt too.

guilty myself. I have quite a stash of new parts waiting to be installed, and just maybe one day I'll get around to it.

Little first gens are definitely still going strong. The only time I envy the new trucks it for their bigger gas tanks and interior room.

I just started a refurb on my 04 Double Cab (see other thread), love the truck, going to keep it until it dies, hopefully another 20 years

I need to replace the clutch pedal spring, it’s gotten pretty squeaky all the sudden.

Try linseed oil. Wipe it on sparingly, avoiding the paint (it won't hurt it) and buff out to remove the tackiness. You won't believe how well it restores the finish. Once a year is enough.

Haven't had any issues with the truck or done anything to it for like a year. Most recent thing was changing the oil and air filter. Not much going on other than pressing the ECT PWR button every once in a while and having a bit of fun on the streets. All in all, has been a very cheap and reliable truck for its age of 21 years : )

I’m determined not let 1st gens fade away. My first gets lots of love and when I retire in a few years I plan on buying fixing and flipping 1st gens to stay busy.

I think there are folks in Mexico already doing that or just parting them out. Seems like every trip I drove between here and Central Texas I'd see one Tacoma pulling one or two more headed for a port of entry. Kinda disheartening to see them go away. Occasionally I will see one for sale out of Mexicali or San Luis.

02 Tacoma, fixed with curse words.
Mines still kicking, I have owned it since 2005. I don't know what I'll do when the middle section of the frame rots out as it has a new frame forward of the firewall and aft of the cab. I don't know if I'll replace it with another 1st gen taco or a 1st gen trundra, or get a whole new frame custom built and drop everything onto there. I hate the newer trucks, big bloated turds IMO.

I still can DD the truck if need be. I don't post in the regular section much, mostly in my build thread.
