the 1st generation Tacoma is the "timeless" generation. The body style never looks outdated-it's classic. You cannot beat the quality that went into them. The '95-'04 group, most specifically the '01-'04 group were the pinnacle of Toyota quality and style:) GET ONE! They IMO will go down as an alltime classic truck.

Agreed. See the thing is these trucks are iconic. Meaning that people (auto enthusiasts) know and respect the Toyota Tacoma for their bullet proof proven reliability. My truck is now reaching 12 years old, and till this day I get compliments on it all the time and my truck is pretty much stock.

I had a 93 Toyota 4x4 bought new. Wrecked it in Mexico in late 2007. Last Dec I purchursed a 2004 4x4 Tacoma with 66,000 miles on it. I love it. My work truck when I retired was a 2007 4x4 Tacoma. I loved everything about it except the door panel setup. My knee kept hitting the door handle thing. Was annoying to me. My 04 has manual door locks and windows so there is nothing in the way of my knee. The 3.4L engine in the 04 is day and night better than the 93 3L and the 4L in the 07 is better than the 3.4L. But I'm happy with the 3.4L. Toyota can lose the red dash lighting too hard for my old eyes to see.

I agree. They should have kept the 1st gens around longer and revised the interior then have the 2nd gen Tacoma be a new midsize called the Hilux.

I dont think a 1st gen is too old, and definitely not the 01-04 style ones. One thing i've noticed is trucks age a lot better than cars. You can have a 10+ year old truck and still mod it and people will tell you 'nice truck' but with cars it doesnt seem the same to me. Cars age quicker IMO. Like go buy a 2000 camry vs. a newer one, and people will see it as being an older car since the new ones look so much different. Trucks jst havent had such dramatic cosmetic changes over the years vs cars which is where i feel the stigma of 10yrs old being 'too old'.

A neighbor down the street keeps offering me $15K for mine.

He's been doing so for about 5 years now.

Last year we were at an Acura dealer looking at MDXs for my stepson and the dealer manager offered me $14,500 to buy mine for himself. I figured he was trying to get me into one of those TLs because I fell in love with one there but when we were coming back from a MDX test drive we saw him drooling over my truck out there:D we sort of knew then that he actually wanted my truck. I said no:)

Not too old...we still have many years to catch up to the 40, 50, and 60 series cruisers.

I sold my 06 Tundra (V8 4X4 TRD) with 53k miles and bought my 03 Taco with 85k miles; not because of financial reasons but merely performance reasons... LIGHTYEARS better than the Tundra (though it was a decent truck). Some people call me crazy but they havent been in the drivers seat...Love my Taco.

I love my truck...cept the interior, it looks like it's from the late 80s.

Dang, I wish 2012 was going to be the year the 3rd gen Tacoma coming out. If it was, 1st gen prices would probably drop more and I could get a better deal on a double cab.
