    Hey I'm looking to buy a winch. What are you guys running ?

    since a stock first gen is about 4000lbs, a 6000-8000lbs winch is enough. A 10,000lbs winch is overkill

    of course it all depends what you want to do with the truck and the winch. If you want to go into hood deep mud, a 10 000 winch is much less overkill

    TRD Headers, Aero Turbine AT2525XL Deckplate Mod, TRD tranny cooler, King Coilovers, LR UCAs, Alcan 5 Leaf springs and Bilstein 5100s, Shrockworks front bumper, CBI rear bumper.
    Warn VR10

    With armor...full skids, gas tank skid, front and rear bumper. I am just over 4800 lbs.
    I am still working on my sliders, so add some for that, add recovery gear, and anything else that will go up a bit. An 8K winch wasn't quite enough.

    The VR10 will fit in my Shrockworks bumper and I got a really good deal on it.
