I'm concerned about metal fillings being in the oil that long.

We get half a dozen "oil change interval" threads each week. They all get the same advice:
    > 5000 intervals is fine
    > While some people have preferences, a good brand-name 0W20 is fine
    > If metal shavings occur, you need more help than oil changes every 10 minutes, you need repairs

    I changed mine at 350
    Then 2500
    Then 5k

Will stick to a 5k interval due to the severe service notations

You can do yourself a fvor by upgrading oil change accessories. First a drain plug with a controlled-flow lever: https://www.fumotousa.com (short nipple, long nipple, no nipple ... your preference, little difference that can be proven). Then Motivx tools to remove the filter canister: https://www.motivxtools.com (do not forget the funnel which locks into the oil fill tube for hands-free filling)

The motive x tools are well worth the money spent.
You may also want to cut about 5 inches off of a 5 gal bucket to catch the oil.
The 0/20w is very runny and will splash when draining.
Put some cardboard down if working in your garage.
.....watch some you tube videos first to see what you are in for.
    Good luck and Have Fun

Can you just change your oil filter?

The Fumoto valve makes this less of a problem once installed. You can attach a hose and direct the oil to a container and control the flow of the oil.

If you have metal fillings in the oil, you’ve got bigger problems, take it to the dealer.

I had planned to do my first oil change at 1k but saw some bright metal sparkles on the dipsticks at 600 miles so I changed mine as soon as I could which ended up being at 700 miles. 5k thereafter for me. Also changed my diff fluid at 1400…a few normal metal flakes in that.

I changed mine after the first 1,000 miles to get rid of any break in flakes, real or imagined. Then at the 5,000 mark to put me on a 5k oil change interval. Welcome to the pool, any pics?

That's what the filter is for.... to catch particulates.

If you don't trust the filter to operate as intended, then do the change whenever.

This kind of nonsense is why we hate "oil change" threads. Toyota engineers have a few more years of experience testing/developing the engines and if they say "5k is sufficient", and have not installed magnetic tips on the drain plugs ... perhaps we should all just worry about other things.

Maybe this one will die after your post ... but it will live on as the OP insists his fears carry more weight than common sense.
