    Aloha all,
First post here on TW, but long time lurker. Running a TRD OR in MGM. Not new to forums or off-roading, was on Pirate4x4 for a long time but wanted info specific for our 2016's. I have had a number of toyotas, a stock 01 extra cab 4x4 mt, 1994 single cab 4x4 mt, and my old favorite which got let go a few years back was a 85 4runner. It had a 22re from Daves off-road with a cam and some mild work. rebuilt trans, dual t-case with 4.7s in rear with twin stick. 4" TG lift running 35" BFG mts, welded rear diff, detriot up front, both axles fully armored. front had TG six shooter knuckles, trunion bearing eliminator, upgraded brakes, longfield inners, birfs, and hub gears, with FROR hub upgrades, front bumper from addicted offroad, sliders from TG, rear bumper from marlin, and who knows whatelse I threw at it. fast forward to now.

I am looking at doing a MT setup, 80% street driving, weekend wheeling. No high speed baja action type stuff. More expo to medium rock crawling. I plan to have armor upfront and back. Sliders for sure, and at some point protecting the belly. I have been reading indepth about the various coil-over setups and differences between mfgs.

My current thoughts are to 2" lift, UCAs, rear small lift via AAL and if I dont like the ride, swap out full leaf pack. Looking at running 285/70r17. Rims I am torn between Fuel Formula or KMC Turbine.
    So questions are,
    1. because of digressive valving of Icons, even with mostly street oriented driving, will i end up with a harsh ride while mild rock crawling? Was kinda looking at the ICON stage 3 Setup. My old 4runner setup with piggyback bilstiens on a 4" lift was soft and comfy on the street and performed fantastic offroad. It would lean hard in everyturn, and would stay leaned when parking from sharp turns. I can live with a little lean.

    2. Would I be better off going with a progressive setup coming from my previous experience?

    3. I have read about how adding caster to the alignment will help clear the 285's, what are the odds I will need to CMC to clear tires when offroad. I am looking at going with 17x8.5 on the rims, with 0 to -6 offset.

    4. I have been searching about the tires but still really unsure about running Load E tires. Seems really overkill. I ran C on my 4runner which ended up pretty heavy after all the armor. Load D a better choice for me?

Based on what you want to do and whats currently out there, I think going with Icon Stage 3 is a good choice. But I'm trying to find the answers to your other questions as well, from what I'm reading the 2016 with the 2" Icon lift should clear those tires. Haven't seen anyone saying they had to do CMC.

Thanks for they reply. Yeah, things were looking like they should fit from what I could gather from the other threads. I was hoping that others would be looking to do a very similar setup, and would be interested to get the answers as well.

285's, get c load. Do the lift and if you rub, do the cmc.
