pilot rock was a freaking blast!!!!!!!!! first snow run of the year!!! [IMG]

met Eric (EROCKER) and his women at the MC Donalds, drove to pilot rock and aired down. the trail was wet from the previous nights rain and snow but traction was optimum!! didn't take long up the trail to hit first snow. for the most part the snow was about 6 inches deep, later on just past the big water fall on dish pan it would get significantly deeper..maybe about 7 inches....haha j/k. towards the end the snow was getting to be just over a foot deep. but it wasn't virgin snow, other people had already been through and laid track.

but get this...for those that know the trail. a group of somebodys cleared out all of the rocks at the big water fall on dish pan..the line to the far left is absolutely paved..i mean PAVED!!. no more rocks to go over AND, the path is wider..much wider. the big flat rock that at the very top where i always got hung up on my sliders is even flatter..you can actualy see chisel marks on that sucker when we drove over it. at the bottom of dish we asked a pair of bikers who just came down from dish what was it like up ahead for us..they were saying a small group of open/open jeeps made it past the waterfall no problem...Eric and i were saying to each other yeah right..were gonna be doing some recoveries in a bit hahaha...i bet i coulda taking my 2wd montero through the waterfall now..well, maybe when it's dry like during the summer haha..

more pics will be posted tomorrow in the evening..

alrighty clowns, here's the rest of the pictures form our 1st snow run for this season.

the first trail we did was called Pilot Rock (2N17X), it starts from the other side of Silverwood lake..maybe 5 minutes of drive time from the end of Cleghorn trail. 2N17X will take you into the interior of the San Bernardino Mountains. plenty of terrain changes to behold and a few moderate water crossings to go through during spring and summer. 2N17X will connect to other trails within the San Bernardino Mountain trail system..pretty much you can start at the 15 and go all the way to Pioneer Town in Yucca Valley if you wanted to...the second trail we did was called Dishpan (2N34). used to be considered a black diamond rated trail with 2 difficult waterfall climbs and some other off camber stuff. but now the second and most hairiest waterfall has been modified and is now stock friendly lol. 2N34 will dump out just above Green Valley Lake which is in between Lake Arrowhead and Lake Big Bear.

anyways, here they are..courtesy of EROCKER and his woman...

Wow. Great pics! That snow makes it seem sketchy and hard to see some stuff on the trail. Would I be able to make it through Pilot Rock without snow?
