Put it in drive or reverse, or even turn the steering wheel, it all makes the Tacoma surge. Very annoying but apparently normal.

I also hate when it downshifts and doesn't accelerate while driving in heavy traffic.

The worst is when it upshifts and then immediately downshifts.

I had this problem too. Almost put it through my garage wall a couple times. I went for a OT Tune and while I was there the tech upgraded my software which did help it a bit. There is an update that actually addresses this. While it's not gone now after the update, it's much more manageable.

A Toyota update that addresses it? I just bought mine 2 months ago and it does it.

Yeh, I don't know. It's apparently recognized with TSB-0125-18. Here is a link to the TSB doc: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10145751-9999.pdf

All I can say is that I noticed a significant behavior change after the update and tune. Perhaps it was the tune that ultimately affected that behavior. :notsure:
