Ok Chris I will trust you then. I searched truck trend and couldnt find it.

By the way any performance part the dealer installs is usually not worth the money. Better do it yourself and do it right.

But I love racing. I race anything with my Tacoma and win some and lose some... I remember I took on a Camaro, that was fun... Made me feel like I was in slo mo. Don't judge me :)

I must say, there's a special place in hell for people who pull up four year old argue threads with pictures like that.

I'm just as angry as u are about this issue. There are lots of new readers and new first gen owners who need to know about this issue. I'm amazed that Toyota hasn't been in the same predicament as GM with the recall issue. This problem still exist and people need to be aware..4 year old thread or not.

I drove my first gen 160k miles with ZERO suspension issues. That truck never broke down or failed to start even once. Selling it is one of my biggest regrets

My dad and I have been running Toyota Tacomas for 17 years. He had a '98 First Generation Tacoma, with 350,000 miles on it, and that bastard was still running strong, but they released a recall, and our boss cashed in on it for 7,000 dollars, even though my old man had the frame plated. It was a good delivery truck. It didn't owe us a dime and made many more. After that, he was issued a '95 Tacoma Ext. Cab. A little less snappier with a load of wood in the back, but still a great truck to this day. Just hit 308,000 on it. We beat the piss out of them every day. We put at least 150 miles minimum per day on that truck, and it's been going strong since the '98 one for about 8 years.

I just recently got a '07 Tacoma for my personal automobile. At first I wasn't sure if it would have had the same trusty sentimental feel that the first generations put off. All in all though, I love my new truck as well. It's a well balanced handling. Keep in mind, all these trucks I'm talking about are 2X4. Even with snow on the ground, they handle so superbly, even if you have questionable tires and no weight in the back. Don't get too cocky, but, they're just all around awesome great trucks.

    image.jpg image.jpg I have a 1997 v6 Reg cab, 4x4, 489,000 miles, supercharged, 2.1 pulley, KN cold air intake,
5 speed, free flowing exhaust, larger DESNO injectors, weight of about 3300 pounds for reg cab and around 300 hp compared to the
236 hp being put out by the 2nd gen Tacoma and a weight of around 4000 pounds.
The new Tacoma trucks have a much larger engine 4 liter compared to 3.4.
But with that said my truck supercharged will run circles around the new 2016 Tacomas, the 2nd gen Tacoma and the J series trucks can't come close to me.
The math is easy, 300 hp compared to 236 hp, weight of 3300 pounds compared to 4000 pounds,
more power and less weight for the 1st gen, no real competion,
    easy math,
weight ratio to hp is 17 for the 2nd gen compared to 11 or 12 for the 1st gen.
