Youll see lots of excuse comments like this one "Idiot needs to race with the ECT button in, it would have smoked that 2nd gen pos" TFL said they had the button pushed, so there goes that.

I mean if you look at the headlighhts, you can even tell that the 3.5 got the jump on the 4.0 comparitivly.

I'm not sure how they calculated their mpg's, because I read 4.397g for 2nd gen. vs. 4.406g for 3rd gen... which leads me to think the 2nd gen got better mileage. that could be the beers speaking though

If you check out the videos on their website they comment on that. When they do the 2nd click the 2nd gen took a bunch more fuel hnce the given values. They accidentally left that part out of the video.m

I guess that makes sense. oh well, I'm content with my truck either way, I still pay less for gas than I did in my car.

So there's an extra cab and a double cab and autos and a manual?..

Seems like the most pointless comparison one could make between the gens.

Other than the 1st Gen holding its own, nothing surprising there. Toyota has completely lost their truck game with the new Tundra and Tacoma refreshes.

Just throw a super charger on your motor. Guaranteed to beat any stock gen at that point.

Now, I will admit right up front that I have not test driven a 2016, but do own a 2013. After climbing into the 2016's cab I was...completely underwhelmed. Same seating position, same crappy rear seat leg room. Yes, the dash is interesting, but I have aftermarket stereo gear that was easy to install. I have never been a fan of the factory audio in these things and I'm sure the 3rd gen would be a nightmare to upgrade. The sunroof cuts into the limited headroom even more. My baseball cap rubbed against the headliner. Even though the box may be slightly deeper and it has the soft open tailgate, the inside of the box looks identical to the 2nd gen. Some nice tweaks, but Toyota bunted when they should have homered.

    My opinion, anyhow.

I think one of the biggest options they were trying to sell hard with the 2016 was the crawl feature. Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty cool concept but I don't see it working as good as Toyota make it out to be. Not to mention it's something I would never use even in an off-road condition. Just my two cents.

Agreed, they probably should have thought about people noticing that before they released the video. considering the camera shots showed the numbers they were pumping, definitely a logical source of confusion for viewers.

Thats what happens when you put minivan engine in the truck... Not enough power, not enough low end torque..
On the MPG comment, third gen "Fuel efficiency" seems to all be coming from air-dam and tonneu cover.
So its funny to see them using TRD sport for MPG testing ( comes with air-dam and Tonneu) but use TRD OR for performance and breaking (No Air-dam different gearing, hydroboosted brakes etc)
Toyota must be really desperate to save 2016 Tacoma from sinking to the bottom of the pit.

Sinking to the bottom of the pit? Toyota is still going to be the market leader and will continue to sell the shit out of the new generation. Its still a sweet truck IMHO even with the TWfanboy nitpicking.

Was the Tundra ever the market leader in the fullsize category. Horrible comparison.
