Would a simple no have sufficed? And I actually researched the weights of both the second gen and 3rd gen before my first post. So you can see why I got pissed off. Sorry

I used to take my 96 to the community dump quite often and the ticket read 3900+ lbs on the exit weigh. It was an extended cab with only me, trailer hitch, bed liner and add a leaf as extra weight.

Thats odd, so based on that, Are you saying your truck was a little tubby or you were a little tubby? Because I hope to god you are not driving around in a 1st gen at 360lbs. Thats just not fair.

I wonder how much work it would be to put a pneumatic strut in the tailgate so we can be all cool like the 3rd gens? Has anyone done this?

I haven't but I'm not going to lie. I've been debating on putting some gas struts under the hood though.

Wait! If you do it will not be like a Ford Mustang with a hood prop and no struts.

Sorry. Old habit from going back and forth with the Ford guys when I drove a Corvette. They talked about my plastic car and I reminded them that Fords rust and that I did not have to prop my hood up with a rod.

Guess now I do since I drive a Tacoma, come to think of it there are rumors of rust on Tacomas.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
    Way ahead of you...
I was so jealous that I could not afford third gen Tacoma that I pretended my 2gen hood is vibrating, and I stuffed that thing full of tampons for better shake absorption.

    /sarcasm

Now I have bunch of left over do-hicks used to push tampons in so that could be used as dampers on tailgate ?:notsure:
