My ’17, TRD-Off Road w/ 57,800 miles, has started showing the warning triangle in the speedometer and the display between the gauges shows “Maintenance Required Soon”.

The warning light and message show up a second or so after the truck starts and stay on for about 7-10 seconds, then both go out.

The truck is running fine and there’s no indication of a problem. I am about 200 miles from my next scheduled oil change.

Any typical Tacoma issues I should look into?
Does the OBD system save codes even if the warning light is not on?

routine maintenance light. Turns on every 5k or so.

you can reset it in the center cluster using your steering wheel buttons

    Probably an oil change warning.

Good to hear. Thanks. I'll be dropping it off at the dealer next week for oil change and a look over (apparently there are a few recalls).

It also does this when your key fob battery is low

The owners manual gives helpful details on the functions of the light and instructions on how to reset.

It's not part of the OBDII system, it's a simple mileage counter. At 4500 miles since last reset, it acts as you currently see. At 5000 miles it will stay on solid.

The display on my truck actually said the battery was low on the key fob. I did it 2 days after I bought the truck.
