This is my first Tacoma but not my first truck.... purchased 29 May 2015! Its been a slow build but its coming along. My goal is to build a truck that i can take camping in spots that are not man made/ predesignated. I would like to be able to just find a nice spot and set up camp. I grew up in East Texas where I spent most of my time outside in the woods camping, building forts, making trails, riding dirt bikes, etc. I now live in DFW and want to get back into camping and playing outdoors! After i pay off the truck the real mods (ones that require cutting) will happen. I have plans in mind but i find as time goes on my needs/designs change, we will see where it takes me.

    Thanks go out to:

What do you get on the texas edition out of curiosity? Maybe look into an ultragauge or seat covers?

Have to agree with above. Black wheels on a white truck look's good.

A cheep mod idea. Maybe re-route the ac condensate drain, so water doesn't drip all over your frame. Over time this causes rust when you use the A/C a lot. Not sure if this will void the warranty or not, though you never know.

Window deflectors are nice on a rainy day. Have fun with your new truck!!

To be honest Im not sure exactly the differences, i cant find anything online... Most Ive gathered is that they are 4 door, 4x4, and have the 6' bed with a V6 engine. I have the texas badges on my front doors, tailgate, and the front floor mats have a texas badge sown into them. Other than that I have not seen anything different. I have been looking at other trucks online... most of them seem to have the same features as far as interior/exterior and motor/trans.

I would really like to find a totaled truck with leather seats that i could grab but Im sure that like finding a needle in a hay stack. But i would settle for some nice leather/pleather seat covers. But the ones I've seen are $250+... and Im not sure i want to spend that on seat covers.

I am not sure. I dont think so though. I was reading online and i think that the TRD package is the only truck that comes with the rear lockers. And apparently they are better than the air lockers, some people have complained about the air lockers failing on them.

Maybe i can find a totaled TRD and steal the rear end!!

    Haha... more dreams probably....

Debadged my truck the other day... The Texas Edition emblems were the worst to get off. I'm not sure what adhesive they used to apply the emblems... but they were terrible to get off.

I used some braided fishing line wrapped around 2 pencils to take off the emblems. (Works like a champ!) I used goo gone to get the adhesive off. Worked great for everything but the Texas emblems, I had to apply the goo gone multiple times and after I got all the black stuff off there was a layer of glue still there. So I applied more goo gone and waited about 5-7 minutes and then used my fingernail to remove the rest of the glue because the cloth wouldn't rub it off. After all that I washed the areas that I used the goo gone on because i was afraid of it yellowing if I didn't.

All in all it took about an 1 - 1.5 hours for the complete process and it turned out very nice!

I dig dirt jumps for BMX bikes and need something to keep my shovel from sliding around in the back...

this is just a double hanger hook that i got from home depot. It was about $3 and I used 3/4" self taping screws

Love the truck! I wonder if you get TRD seats instead of sr5 seats with the Texas edition?

I think the seats are standard. There isn't anything special about them. I read that the rims also come on the Texas edition tacos. They also have a touch screen radio without nav. Buttons on wheel. Back up camera in the mirror. Pretty much just interior upgrades.

Got the LEDs installed this weekend.
    Used waterproof cool white 5050s.
They are hooked up to a toggle switch for now, but I am looking into hooking them up to the dome light.
UPDATE: LEDs are now hooked up to the dome light so they come on/off when unlocking/locking the truck.

If you are interested in having a set of LED bed lights send me a PM and we can figure out what it is that you want. I will build them and we can discuss prices. I.E. color of lights, placement of LEDs, Inside cab or bed mount switch. We can do a physical switch or have them come on/off when the truck is unlocked/locked. Also can do pin switches so that the lights come on when the tailgate is opened.

I added some bed storage over the weekend. .50 cal ammo cans i got for cheap. I used 5/8" carriage bolts to mount them, and I added a strip of foam padding to the top to prevent damages to my paint when opening.

I ordered a dash cam because I work and live in Dallas and people around here drive like idiots! The dash cam gives me some peace of mind because i have been in 2 wrecks in the past that were not my fault and the insurance ended up saying both drivers were at fault. I feel like if i had a video to show what happened during both i would not have been out of pocket.

I got on youtube and found a video on how to hard wire install a dash cam. I also found one for my radar detector and wired in both at the same time. It was pretty easy.
