What gear ratio is in the axle on that thing? I have 4.30s and don’t really have much of the same complaints.

The 2.7L, if 4wd and mated to the 5spd manual comes from the factory with 410s.

    Don't think any 2.4s were 4wd.

So if you have 4wd you have a 2.7.

Do the hills and such in 4th. It's fine to wind a bit.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
How old is the battery? I just changed my battery and at night the dash lights were so bright I had to turn the dimmer down, a lot. The truck runs smooth without that little chuggle that was there and seems to run like Jack the Bear

No worries! I don't think titles can be edited by the OP.

The 2.7L I've had for 6 months meets my expectations for power, slightly exceeds expectations for fuel economy. IMO it's the ideal drivetrain for my use. On a certain uphill highway grade on my commute home it shows it's not a V6 - I usually keep it in 4th (5 speed manual) until the top of the grade and don't go much above 60mph. So yes, at times it's apparent it's a 4 cylinder and must be driven accordingly. Well worth the slight change in driving methods IMO given the fuel economy and reliable reputation of the engine.
