So this is my story... I have a 2001 Tacoma Ext Cab 4x4 5-speed with the 2.7L engine and 4.30 gears. It has 109k on it and I recently put on a 2.5" lift with adjustable Bilstein 5100s and a Wheelersoffroad 1.5" aal. I bought a set of 33x12.50x15 BFGoodrich AT KO2s and 15x8 Black Pro Comp Steel Wheels. Ive been running these tires and rims for a bit and Im not really liking the rubbing and power loss. The only trimming Ive done is the pinch weld but i can tell I'll have to cut out a bunch more and im not sure if im willing to do that. What I've been looking into is switching back to my stock 16x7? wheels and throwing on a set of 265/75r16 BFGs to get some power back due to the weight difference and I could also get rid of the rubbing issue.
I don't do any hardcore offroading besides a few trails here and there so i dont think I'll be needed the 33s for anything besides looks.

So my question is... Would this work to solve my power and rubbing problems and Do the 265/75s look completely goofy or do they look good and proportional? Some pictures would be much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Hunter

I have a 3/2 lift with 275/70/17 which is only about 1/2" taller than 265/75/16. No rubbing and look fine.

I have a 2.5" in the rear, 2" in the front lift with stock size 265/70r16. I don't think it looks goofy, but I am planning on going with 265/75r16 on my next tires

Yep, and thanks. Those are 275/70/17 ko2's. Next time I may go with 265's. Don't do hard off roading and will save 10lbs per tire but will be lower load rating. Will get the 1 mpg back I lost?

You will definitely gain both dropping down from 33's.

That's a 2.5 inch lift in the front stock in the rear, 265/75/R16

Thinking of downsizing next time but these are still brand new

What wheels and tires are those? And downsizing to what? And for what reason? I'm curious

I've already posted this pic in other threads but you might find it helpful. 265/75/16 with a 1.5" lift. I like the proportion but obviously with the extra inch of height your truck will look slightly different.

WORX rims I never remember the style I found them on Craigslist brand new with Ko2's

And I might try to go back to stock, I can tell when I step on it from a dead stop that my truck get under a lot of load very hard and then takes off I don't like the stress on my truck these 4 bangers whernt ment to push more than stock we all need some good ole V6's
