Hey folks, I want to regear my 2.7 litre, 5 speed, 4x4 2017 taco to hold speed a little better on the highway after installing 265/70/17 tires and a camper shell with a roof rack.
I was thinking about 4.88's, and then just going a little bigger with the tires if it is too much gear. What do you guys think? I'm afraid 4.56 wouldn't be enough, and very expensive if the gains arent noticeable.

I'm in the same boat, same specs, I'm thinking with the 5 speed that the 5.29's might be a little too steep, 4.88 being the sweet spot

35's? I'm on little tires, maybe about 31" tall, I just wanna be able to pull a small trailer and maintain 75 mph with my camper shell on.

I made an appointment with ECGS to regear mine to 4.88s. I'm running 285s and want to go up in size. I think gears will wake the truck up.

I'm running 285s on my rig. I am 3 days in on my 4.88s and I fell in love with my truck again. It was a huge improvement and got my gas mileage back. Very satisfied with the regear.

I’ve been researching this as well. Almost want to go 5.29s, but with our 5th gear being a good bit higher than the 6th gear in the V6s, I think 4.88s will be perfect. I’m plan on only running 265/75/16s... I believe our trucks are way undergeared from the factory for the sake of mpg
Now, if you have the automatic, I think you could easily get away with 5.29s because of the double overdrive
