So I'm doing my belt, tensioner, and idlers soon. I need to replace the belt, and with 175k on the original tensioner and idlers, I figured I might as well do those at the same time.

So I have two questions, though, for those who have done the tensioner on a 2.7l.

    1. Do I have to take the alternator off, or can I just take the lower bolt off, loosen the top bolt, and swing it out of the way of the weird perpendicular bolt?

    2. Has anyone actually followed the torque procedure in the FSM (ie. temporarily attach the tensioner with bolts "b" and "a." Torque bolt "b" to 30 ft lbs. Torque "a" to 16 ft lbs. Only then, after verifying the holes for "c" lines up, then install and torque "c" to 32 ft lbs).

Attached is the procedure from the FSM.
