2.7L 35 inch tires regear. HELP!

    I have a 2015 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner. Automatic. 2.7L with a factory 4.10 gear. I am running 35x12.50R17s with a 6 inch lift. Struggles on the highway at high speed. Anything over 60/65 mph is almost impossible. Obviously I know it needs to be regeared. But, my question is what gear would I need to regear to? I hear 4.56 is a good gear but, I also hear 4.88 is a good gear as well but, it can kill your gas mileage.. Help!

    Poor little four cylinder.

    I would make a suggestion is give the guys a call at East Coast Gear Supply.

    They are very knowledgeable in regards to regearing Taquitos

    4.88s are the way to go. However it will always struggle and get awful milage because it's an auto. Honestly the 2.7 should only be available in 5spd. But the 4.88s will help. 35s with a 5spd bring it to stockish feel

    Trade for V6 before you waste money on regearing. It will still drive like a dog after 4.88

    I am seriously starting to feel as if I wasted my money lifting this thing and putting big tires on it with it only being a 4 cyl. Almost makes it seem like I would be better off tearing it back down to stock. Cause it seems like no matter what I do it's not going to make it any better.

    You got that right! Take it back to stock. Save the lift parts. Trade for V6 and then you'll be much happier even without regearing tho it might still help with tires that big and heavy

    Trading it is not an option. I just got it 2 years ago brand new off the lot. I can't afford to trade it in. hell it was almost impossible for me to trade my car in just to get the truck I have now.

    Trade my 2015 for an 2007. Yeah I don't think so lol. By the time I pay to tear it down and get tires AGAIN then trade it and pay to have it re-lifted.. F that. That's a lot more money than I am willing to spend and go to an older truck uh no thanks.

    Gotcha. Was only pointing that out because it's the same model truck safe for very minor cosmetic changes. I guess go with 4.88 and live with it. Won't make a world if a difference but sure is better than current. Good luck
