That's a negative, I'm double locked on 35s, anytime I'm out on a trip with friends my rig out performs 1st gen 3.4 trucks and anything older. I also get to bypass fuel stops where every single 4.0 pickup and fj cruiser has to stop and once she's in 4lo there's hardly a difference between mine and 4.0.

    He makes good points.

But to OP regear to 4.88 and then save for a supercharger if its still too slow for you.

Glad you like your truck. That's how it should be. The 2.7L plus standard trans sure is a beast.

... but now imagine double locked on 35s with a 4.0... and I'm not buying that gas mileage stuff. When you make the small motor work that hard it drinks more than the V6 does

I'm running 4.88s the engine doesn't have to work hard at all, then it's just a matter of driving style. I rarely exceed 70 and I understood when I bought the truck I wasn't going anywhere fast. If I wanted fast I'd have kept my road race car. It's been well documented trucks with the 2trfe a 5spd 4.88s and 35s will hit 20mpg. I've been over large engines for a long time, the 4.0 while a great engine holds 0 value for me

Only issue with an SC is you must run high octane fuel. For a city truck not an issue but a bush mobile may find it difficult to find it in remote locations

@Tattedmom26, your 6" lift is either a drop bracket lift or a spindle lift. A drop bracket lift will be difficult to return to stock because usually for those, the front crossmember is torched out of the chassis. A spindle lift will be easier to return to stock because the spindles can be swapped back to stock parts. But 35" tires won't fit with stock suspension, so you'd have the expense of returning it to stock, plus the expense of new tires and possibly new wheels if the ones you have are a ridiculous offset.

Since your truck is 2WD and you only have one differential, regearing is probably the cheapest route. I've been for a ride in a 1st gen 4 cylinder automatic with 4:56's and it was slow even with stock tires. 4:88's would be a little better, then when you wear out the 35" tires you could replace them with 33's or P-rated 285's.

Carry some octane additive. Problem solved.

I just talked to East Coast Supply they said definitely a 4.88 and that will get me closer to a better performance. He said I am definitely not the first person to do my setup on a 4 cylinder so not to worry about that part but, that 4.88 was my best route and it'll give me a better performance. Obviously I am not going to get stock performance I mean I get that. I know a lifted truck is going to drive like a lifted truck but, I just want a little more performance than what I am getting. Just don't want it to struggle as much as it is now.

He told me a 4.88 gear. Obviously I am not going to get stock performance but, the 4.88 will definitely help out a lot compared to a 4.56 gear according to them. He did make me feel better though about the fact that I lifted a 4 cylinder. Some people on here making me feel stupid for it he's like don't worry about that.. you aren't the first one to lift a 4 cylinder. I was about ready to throw my hands up.

Yes, the 4.0L V6 that makes an orgasmic 266 lb. ft. of torque in a 4500 lb. truck. It's not that special. In the middle class American pickup truck dick-measuring contest, V6 Tacoma owners think I4 Tacoma owners are pussies, half-ton truck owners think small truck owners are pussies, diesel pickup truck owners think half-ton truck owners are pussies, semi truck drivers think diesel pickup truck owners are pussies, I think about boobs and Black Sabbath riffs...

@Casper66 is running 33's on an Auto with LCE hearders. 33's are nkt 35's but might worth it to have is opinion

Don't care about those people, doesn't matter the engine in it, it is where it brings you!

Not exactly sure but didn't hurt it too much. Id probably say around 20-22 on the highway and 18-20 on the streets
