Well driving in D at 60 im only running about 1500 rpms and it struggles bad. I drive it in 3 amd at 60 im running about 2400-2500 rpms and the truck doesnt struggle at all. It drives about like it did stock. I never really payed any attention to my rpms when it was stock but, i assume it was running more than 1500 at 60 i would think. But, im not sure.

Ya that's what happens when you toss 35s on it essentially gears the truck up... 4.88's will solve all the issues you are experiencing

But, in the mean time. What is my best option. Running it in D at only 1500 RPM's or running it in 3 where it's not so boggled down. I don't know enough about gears, engines and transmissions to know what does what to it. So, driving it in 3 is not good except only when needed like on hills and stuff? Not good for just regular driving? Sorry, I probably sound really dumb. I am just trying to learn everything I can.

if your going to run those size tires you will have to regear it to reclaim lost performance/drivability. you opened pandoras box when you put the 35s on and theres no turning back, unless you restrip it back to stock which would be insane.

Well I already know that. I am just trying to figure out what to do until I can re-gear it. I just don't have the money right now.

Run it in 3. Your tires are so big you are lugging your engine all the time at speed which isn't good for it

You are on the right track with gearing to 4.88's and talking to Chase @ECGS. I think you are fine to drive manually shifting the auto trans to maintain rpm's until you get gears. I've been running 35's and 36's on my 4banger for a long time with 4.88's. Another thing to consider is the weight of your tire and wheel combination lighter will be better, I'm not saying buy new ones but when you do need new tires pay attention to the weight. If you are running 17's you could look at a 285/75r17 not a 35" tire but 34" so proportionately it may look good with your lift and save some weight over a 35. You can also look at a header, exhaust and air filter it won't change needing gears but will help with performance of the 2tr-fe in my opinion making it breathe a little easier. Building the truck you want will have trade offs time, money, little quirks etc. Take your time and work towards your goal in steps ie gears, afe air filter, header don't think it has to all be done at once. It worked for me and I've been pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Yeah it is going to be a while before I can re-gear unfortunately. Just trying to maintain my engine and transmission until I can get it done. I will definitely check out the next time I need tires on how much they weigh.

You are also supercharged, right? In that case I'd agree, exhaust and air filter make sense. The charger would probably kill her tranny... Naturally aspirated those mods don't do shit for the 4banger except make it sound rice. The LCE header may be a good investment tho and cheaper than having someone regear...
OP, keep an eye on the classifieds. Might be able to score a complete diff with 4.88 already in it. That's very easy to swap and then you can sell yours and make some money back.

Make sure you get the correct rear third. My truck has the T100 8.4" third member.

you cannot do anything, with that size tire you now have improper gearing in the stock 4:10 ratio to push the massive tires properly and maintain ride performance, putting on airfilters, superchargers, headers wont compensate for having the proper gear ratio for the tires.

Well it's not so much what can I do to fix it without re-gearing as to what is my better option. Riding in 3 off the hwy at 2500 rpms where the engine isn't struggling or drive in D only pulling 1500 RPM's and the truck struggles the whole time. Just trying to figure out my best options until I can re-gear

SORRY that I am not super smart about engines! Geez. I'm out of this thread. Tired of people being dicks for no reason.

Holy crap sorry I'm just getting in on this. This thread is awesome. I wanna see your rig! 4cyl Auto with 35s and 6 inch lift! You know how to choose em! Is it an AC or DC?

I regret buying the 4cyl but I never thought I'd be modding it. But here we are..

Dude run that 2TR to the ground in 2nd or 3rd--you're not going to hurt it. Make sure you're up to date and level on your engine oil. The tranny has cooler lines luckily, and I recommend you stay up to date on those services too.

EDIT: Just read your name, didn't realize we're all talking to a female--and a mom at that! I apologize on behalf of those being dickheads. It's not needed.

EDIT AGAIN: Just saw your picture! Bad ass truck! If you're already that deep in, you have a decision to make. Dig yourself deeper by regearing, or quit while you're ahead.
