i forgot to say when i do have my tailgate down its because i have all my windows down including the rear window. I can feel it drag against the tailgate with the windows down, and with it down it feels nice and smooth

Mine is a regular cab 4 X4, 5 speed, 4 cylinder. I get 22 around town and can get 25 on the highway. I may drop a mile per gallon during very cold Wisconsin weather. I would say that 15 mpg indicates something is not working properly. While personal driving style is a factor, I doubt if that would change it that much. It may help to inspect you air filter and tire pressure. For what it is worth aerodynamic tests prove the tailgate down does not affect gas milage.
    Good luck

Just gassed up for the first time in my 2013 Access Cab w/Auto Trans.
Did a combo of city and highway and at least 1/3 was in 4x4. Very pleased to report that it got 19.09mpg. It should improve just a little as it breaks in and my driving style calms from the excitement of a new truck, lol. It's the first 4cyl I have had in a very long time so it will take a few tanks to learn the engine too. Only had it 4 days so everything is bone stock.
