Well, there's a really big part of the reason that your mileage went down.

Yeah those tires are really heavy. But 14mpg city? I've never even come close to that. I get 18 now but ........ I have 4.88s which makes a HUGE difference. But those numbers still don't add up for me if you are easy on the truck. Things you can do ....... Change diff fluid, grease u-joints, clean/replace air filter with more free flowing, change engine oil, adjust brakes/ e brake, check wheel bearings, raise tire psi .......

I have done ALL of those things except adjust the brakes! That's why I can't understand it! I'm prolly gonna check the brakes and hope that's the issue. Let the googling begin!
Really man, thanks for the info, you've got a sick truck.

Thanks man. And yeah there's something funky. Can you tell me what oils, filter and psi you run? Also how off is your speedo at 40mph and 70 mph and are your mpg calculations derived from your odo?

No that's not a big deal. Better a 1/2 too much then too little. Unless you're way over the line on your dipstick then it's fine. And yeah I see nothing wrong with what all your using. Def not to make your mpgs that bad. But your speedo will be off. It may only be a few mph at 70 but that will give you false mpg readings. Problem still is that's not changing your numbers from 14 to 20

So after fighting with my Toyota tool box and its lid, just trying to clean it up and polish it clean on my own I've put so much work into it and just can't seem to bring it back the right way to where I'm happy with it.

I called the Rhino lining facility local to me and got an estimate of 150 bucks just to coat the lid, so a call to Line-X which is maybe 15 minutes away netted an estimate of $65 and as soon as I had time off I took my truck box out there and the gentleman was really awesome, super nice and even though he estimated 3 days to work it in he called me about 4 hours later as he had went ahead and finished it for me.

Now I never have to worry about it again!

I'm super tickled how good it turned out.

That looks good. I bought my tool box when I bought my truck in 08 and its def time to get it repainted. I got a line-x right down the street and that's sounding like a good idea

It looks grey/not black depending on the angle because your not looking down on it.

I'll try and getter a better pic soon.

It's pretty sweet. AND now at least my toolbox lid is BOMBproof! Lol...

What tire pressure are you running? When I switched to a 10-ply tire I first had like 38 PSI which was killing my mileage, almost to the degree you mention. After pushing it up to 48-50 my mileage went back to the 19-20 range which is 1-2 MPG less than what I had with the original dunlops. Granted I'm running 235/85 vs 265/75. Something to check though.

How much weight do the front and rear bumpers add?
    Are you also running skids?

Current weight of my Tacoma is 4300lbs with tires and lift.

Thinking of mpgs, I was running on the interstate the other day and was watching my ultragauge, at 65mph it would stay somewhere around 19-21. At 75 it would stay somewhere between 16-18. That's with 4.88s and on pretty flat land. I usually go between 75 and 80 on out of town off road trips and I'll come out averaging around 15-16 mpg
