Do you want 1 3/4 lift, or 2 3/4 lift?

I ran both 883 on an 05, and 884s on an 06 with OME struts.
Your going to have to raise the rear with 884s.

    20160422_195640_zpsbr3howum_d0dd454ce524d35e30a00805c48d3640d21c7709.jpg

The 884s also seemed to be more finicky with alignments.

Also take Taller tires into consideration (affect on overall lift).

    I prefer the 883s with 255/85s, but that's just me :)

If I go 883s will I need to lift the back any? Thinkin 883's up front and then whatever if anything I need in the pack probably put something back there as I intend to put my camper back on. Then go with a 265/75 in an all terrain. I'm not looking for some freaking crawl monster just to improve the look and ride. I take a lot of back roads and stuff to go hunting and camping.

No need to touch the rear if you go with 883s.

Another difference I forgot to mention earlier is you can keep your mudflaps with 884s.
Had to remove them with 883s...when running taller tires 255/85s.

so you ran 255's with just the 883s? My mudflaps are already gone so no worry there? How did the 4cyl do with the 255s? How much lift do the 883s give it roughly?

Both of my Tacomas above are 2.7s with 255s (currently only have the beige one).

Will one day switch to 4.88s, but not in a hurry as stock gears (and 5spd) perform fine.

Regarding lift, you get just under 2" from the 883s.
Remember, Your going to get another inch or so from the 255s.

The KM2s have a meaner profile, but prefer Cooper Maxxs.
Sidewalls are stiffer, but tire pressure adjustments help enough for my wife not to notice so much :)

Lastly, the 884s were a bit on the tall side (blue Tacoma) for a DD...which is the reason I went with 883s 2nd time around :)

Looks like I'll be going 883s. Thought about going 265/75. Good idea or bad idea? Probably throw an a along when I get a topper again. Those stock TRD sport struts should be long enough for the 883s right? I've got 245/75 st Maxxs now. Love the tire! Mine don't hum at all. Took them on a 400mi road trip to mississippi and still averaged 23mpg.

Sorry, have only run OME struts with OME springs...
    Maybe someone else can comment?

    Sweet truck BTW.

OME N140S with the 884s, and the newer 90021 with the 883s.
Can't say I noticed a difference between the two.

Happy with both setups, just prefer the 883s for the reasons previously mentioned.

My Hankooks are supposed to go on tomorrow, just a nice P265/75/R16.

Looking forward to the differences. I think it's going to look a lot better.
I know the mileage will take a hit but I drive pretty easy for the most part.
Wondering of my speedometer will be spot on now as well. Lol...
