    Hello. Truck is a 1996 2.7l.

Just wondering if anyone has deleted the air intake resonator, and if they had any issues after doing so.

Mine has a hole in it, deleting would be the easiest fix as they aren't made anymore. Aftermarket intakes don't have a resonator either.

cold air intakes done away with them.....

quiets down the engine a small amount...

zero performance change.....keeping it is just one more place of possible failure.....

unless it was leaking....then you'll have a big improvement...

Ok thanks. Yeah I saw that some aftermarket intakes had deleted it.

It did indeed have a hole about the size of a quarter in it.

Deleted it yesterday, no issues so far.

Be careful about patches on the intake tube....reg duct tape just cooks to death...
...and then you get an intake leak.......

needs to be something good .....like aluminum plenum tape...

All kinds 3 inch body lift/2 1/2 suspension lift. 31/11 1/2/15 tires All work done by myself for years. The only work performed by mechanic was fuel pumps. I also have a 90 Mustang 350 hp and I can never understand how come my Tacoma gets more respect Just got a 99 Jeep TJ that I rebuilt, and painted in the garage
Just for the record I wish I never got a KnN cold air kit. Its been proven you are better off without one in the long run. They let in too much crud over time, and I got a cell light and it never went away. It was for emissions, but cant figure it out.

Actually thats the moisture catch can he deleted.

If you do that .....might want to have a drain hole in filter box on far side of the filter....just in case.

Water can get into that box.

I have one which I can mail to you, if you want it.

However, I would also recommend installing a cold air intake, namely the HPS unit. It's quite nice. A CAI provides a lot more space in the engine bay. Notice how I am not recommending a CAI for performance reasons; there are none.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I made one out of a piece of Steel pipe I guess just blocking the hole would also work.
