I would drill a hole, tap threads and then plug it.

I would like to see a broader picture of the engine, as well as the frame.

Mannnnn 10 years in the northeast, let alone Vermont is going to destroy most cars/trucks unless you do some serious preventative maintenance yearly.

When I was shopping for a Tacoma I looked up north(I was desperately looking for a manual) in VT, NH, and Etc…all of the Tacoma’s up there were priced 4K-5K lower compared to other areas. Well at least the honest people were pricing them accordingly.

Id like to see the rest of the truck lol.

Including the picture posted by the OP in this thread I have never seen an engine block rust through. That Tacoma possesses some of the heaviest rust.

Based on the photo I would say that truck is about done. I would not invest big money in the engine. I can only imagine what the frame and suspension look like.

I wasn't thinking about a screw, but that's not a bad idea. I'm with everyone else who suggested epoxy/JB Weld. Might even drill and tap and machine screw. Peen it. Lots of possibilities, not like it's a 100 psi in there

Id be worried about metal chips falling into the engine using a screw (let alone drilling first). Its a pretty small hole and presumably not under a high pressure or else OP would have lost all oil in very short order. Id think regular old JB Weld (with good surface prep) would be enough.

And OP, you might consider a trip to another dealer to get a second opinion on the frame. Unfortunately the nasty shit they use on the roads nowadays eats vehicles alive up here in the Northeast. Without some sort of preventative measure like Fluid Film, etc. expectations are for vehicles up here are low. :(

Cast iron is easy to braze if you have the equipment and know how to braze.
