I bought the truck with 13k miles, sitting at 18k now, but it's been thru the winter so wanted to get it changed before this winter (don't drive much). I installed a Fumoto drain valve, I highly recommend these, I use them in all my vehicles.

The manual says 6.2 w/ Filter Replacement. I put a 5QT jug of Valvoline Advanced 0w20, another 1QT jug of it, and a splash more after that to guess around 6.2 QT. I think it's a lot of oil for a 4-banger, but I keep reading people only putting 5, 5.5, or 6 instead. What's everyone else doing? The dipstick is a little hard to read since the oil is so new but I know it's not underfilled lol.

Overfilling is not good either. 6.2 with new filter. Good luck. , like the drain plug

Here is a good discussion on the 2.7L oil capacity. I try to fill in the ballpark of what the manual calls for and then get the dipstick just below the top dot.

I let my truck sit for a couple of hours and pull out the dipstick without wiping and can get a good reading.

Always check the dipstick. I've been putting in a 5 quart jug to bring it up to the second dimple.

Let it sit overnight, then read the dipstick. It'll be easier to read when the oil has settled in the pan.

    YMMV :)

Well if you changed oil and filter and manual says 6.2, I'd put in 6.0 and don't sweat the .2. As others said as long as within dipstick marks good to go but overfill isn't good. It ain't like going to a buffet.

I put always put 5.5 with a fresh filter, shows just above the 2nd dot very hard to see when its clean and new. You will never drain the entire pan, 1/2-3/4 a qt that you wont get out. i pick up the 5 qt jug and a single then keep the extra 1/2 qt in the truck after my change.

I checked it after a couple days, 6 QT + a splash, it's literally perfect at the top dot.

I always did 5.5 with my 2.7. Sold it with 170k miles and she was running as strong as ever.
