What's crazy is this is the first 2TR he has pulled for major work. Shows the reliability of the engine.

    Very interesting about this engine.

But more so I am very impressed with this man. A well spoken, genuinely caring individual that enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience. No doubt his customer base values not only his talent as a mechanic, but his opinion and approach to maintenance and repairs.

He says the cylinder had some slight wear marks but doesn’t mention doing any work to the cylinder does he just basically slap it on the new block with a new head gasket? I’m assuming the only be replaced the block was because it was so rusted no? At the end of the day I wonder if it would have been cheaper to get a used engine from the west/southwest United States and swap it in. Yes he gets a new block but basically it seems like he paid 7k for a head gasket job (not saying car care nut ripped him off by any means)

well, its not really just head gasket job if its comes with a new short block is it? That's new Block, Pistons & Rings, Rods , Bearings & Crankshaft. the cylinder wall is where most of the wear was.

Finding a used engine with low miles might have been cheaper. And maybe not. A major expense was pulling the engine out and re-install.

    Still thinking about it.
It's a well made video but I disagree with his conclusion regarding the plow. It seems that the blown head gasket caused coolant to wash away the lubrication in cylinder 1 which is what caused the cylinder wall wear.

Saying that the 2.7 is no good for off roading is a big hit to the dudes credibility btw.

I would’ve just bought a junkyard engine and sent it. Forget 8k repair bill.
