    2017 Tacoma SR 2.7L 4 cylinder
I have a 2017 4 cylinder. First truck I ever bought and was in my price range. Used it for towing a jon boat for awhile and it pulled it fine. Just recently upgraded to a bass tracker classic xl (Package weight = 1705 lbs) I round up to 1950 lbs for batteries, gas, gear.

I'll be a test dummy for this I guess. When I first picked up the boat I could definitely tell it was back there. All my boat ramps are anywhere between 20 minutes to an hour.

Would have gone with a V6 if I could do it Over again, but cannot justify trading mine in and paying anywhere between 12-17k more for a V6 at this moment.

I'm going to put a trans cooler on there for piece of mind. I've actually polled a large number of techs and other people I know that tow and they all have said I should be fine. Just drive prudently.

My main concern is to just not rip up my engine. Long trips are probably out of the question, but I'm grateful for what I have and have learned lessons along the way.

Placing my faith in a 4 cylinder for now.
