Someone posted a comment poo-pooing the power output of the 2.7L 4-banger. I've been driving a 2010 2.7, MT, for 135,000 miles and have been quite pleased. (Remember its more power that Toyotas first V6) Granted it's not a V6, however it does quite well and I average 22 mph on the highway. Interestingly I did notice a considerable improvement in power after about 25,000 miles. I'm running 235/85-16 LT's so the ratio is pretty tall. My only complaint is that they could have made 1st gear a bit lower as starting on a hill can be tough, certainly would not want to do it with a trailer or other heavy load. As for the same power as a Camry - I also have a 2010 Camry (4-banger with a 6 speed manual). No comparison as the weight to HP Ratio is way different. The Camry will beat the pickup in multiple ways...Especially mileage where I get 35-40 on the road.

The truck is slow because it weighs over 4,600 lbs... My '94 GMC C3500 1Ton 7.4L V8 BB weighs just over 4,000...

X2. I agree with that. And if I really cared about MPG I'd be lining up for my 3rd Gen.

Hi Justus. I was out of line with my post earlier and I am sorry for it. It was not cool and I regret it. Guess I was just not thinking as my MPG is so much lower than yours it's been a sore spot for me (of course I know why mine is what it is - my fault for the mods I've done).

So, please accept my sincere apologies for my behavior. You're obviously passionate about your Tacoma, as I am, and I'm sure you know it as well as I know mine. And I had no right to 2nd guess you on that. Your right I didn't even know it wasn't a 4WD. My bad.

I'd think most people would get Pulled over for driving that slow on the highway
