06 just has low compression in #2 cylinder so it kind of detunes after 3300 rpm and losses power the bogger is a 3litter v6 all the machine work headers msd oversized valves oversized throttle body rv cam basicly everything except turbo or s/c nothing like shifting at 7 grand and maybe making 200hp lol

Not sure if you know luis or paradise but if you’re looking for power there is no other 4cyl guy in the world you’d rather go to. Give him a call go over goals and budget and he will find a way to get you there. Ask me how I know

'09 Silver SR5 Prerunner DCSB (sold) Dick Cepek rims, 33” Cooper AT 3’s, 24 in light bar, custom-made hitch step, sport headlights (on SR5 taco), Gator tonneau cover (looking for Best Top soft camper shell), real tree seat covers, weather tech floor liners, 6’ bed mat cut to 5’ (because the 6’ ones were the only ones available, alpine touch screen head unit, alpine 1100w amp powering 2 10” subs, upgraded door speakers (forgotten the brand), Magnaflow exhaust
If you got the cash just buy a new truck and get a junkyard engine so you can make the 06 into a beater/trail rig

I’m excited to see any of these options... built 4banger, diesel, or LS SWAP THIS B*TCH!

I’d say put a wrx engine & turbo in it, but an EG is gonna blow faster than you can say “mistakes have been made”

Yes but where is the fun in doing something different. I have dumped more $$$ into vehicles than they are worth many many times it can be fun, challenging, frustrating, and rewarding to be the first to do it. The used stock replacement is great for getting it back on the road quickly the built motor is great if you are building it for a purpose i.e. supercharging/turbo (big boost), and the diesel option is awesome just because rolling coal.

If you have any mechanical or fab work experience then doing a diesel would make sense because the labor and getting all the little bits straightened out is where you see a lot of money you didn't originally think was needed gets spent and drives the budget through the roof. If you can find a used 4bt you could go that route for cheaper than the 2.8l

OP, it sounds like you understand exactly what you're getting into. I vote Cummins, just because so few have been done.

Ok so I emailed diesel toys about the 2.8 Cummins swap and they looked into it when Cummins fist announced the engine and had huge concerns about reliability witch would be the main reason of wanting to burn diesel so the 2.8 is off the table ....now just to talk with paradise racing and see what they can come up with for me I refuse to put a used engine in and also can' justify a rebuild with out machine work and balancing

What if you went to a 4.0 instead of the 4 banger?

If someone builds/rebuilds you a motor and doesn't take it to a machine shop to have everything checked and machined as needed then they aren't worth having them build you a motor, sounds like some backwoods slap it together to get it running a little while longer bandaid. You would be better off with the used motor in that case.

Depending on what caused or what broke in your engine there could be some damage beyond the scope of repair. Like a really bad spun crank bearing to the point no line boring/hone work will get the crank bearings back in line.

If you can pull the motor yourself and tear it down to the long block then find yourself a reputable machine shop that would be good route as well. I am not sure if paradise racing machines their own stuff or sends it out something to ask them. The more you get into balancing and blueprinting and port and polish work the more the $$$ of rebuild goes up especially if you spec some custom rods, pistons etc. The skys the limit when it comes to building a motor within what can actually be done. But you can call any piston, rod, valve manuf. and have them make you a custom set of whatever you want.

Ive gotten from 300 to over 800 depending on what engine how you spec it out etc. That's a very loaded question.

Paradise will build a 3rz that can make 1200hp for 7-8k but you will need a turbo to actually hit those numbers

And rebuild every other major component set to handle that power, including the frame.

Engine swaps are usually not financially the most wise but it's a hobby so any modifications are really discretionary. Replacing an engine, even if it cost $10K, is smarter than buying a whole new truck, though.

The smartest thing to do is the used engine + supercharger for power but I'd vote 2.8L Cummins @yankyslayer. If for no other reason than that's what I want to do into my 2008 and I would absolutely love to see someone do it first. Plus Cummins says the emissions are only Tier II compliant, thus only up to 1999 model year light trucks. So I want to see about hassles...

This was directed at the OP. I know what motors can be capable of. I am asking him specifically what is he getting for 10k. Is it a built N/A motor or will it be forced induction? Just curious.
