That's bigger than my 20'x20', and it would be great to have another garage like you do. I had a 20'x10' shed built with loft storage, for all the crap that normally gets stored in a garage. I only have my Tacoma, my wife's Mazda 6 and my tools in the garage. Here in Utah, it's odd that they will build a 3,500 sq ft plus house with small 20'x20' garages. If I ever build a house it will have at minimum, 25'x30'.

I live in Albuquerque as well and I can fit my Tacoma along with my wifes Subaru Crosstrek in just fine. The width is pretty typical but my length is a lot longer than most because my house was the model home of the neighborhood as it was being built so the developer had their offices inside of it. We just had our house reappraised so here are the dimensions we were provided. Also, I live on the westside. I imagine you are on the east side if the garages are tight.

I have a 22 by 24. It fits my Tacoma and my wife's JK fine (I can walk between them and all the way around them). I also have 2 large work benches, a compressor, a small table saw, a radial arm saw, drill press, tool chest, welder, plasma cutter (on separate carts), band saw, hydraulic press, engine hoist, and a street bike in there. We also have had my old Ram 1500 4X4 and the JK in there, and before that it was the Ram and a Durango. Organized is the key here. When I retire, I'm looking into moving and building. I want a separate shop around 30x30 and have a 2 or 3 car for the cars only. This house was built in 1977 and cars were still boats then so the garages are bigger. Some newer homes I have seen look as if the garage would hardly house a smart car. No bueno... The garage is one area you can't go too big. I always say I want a big shop with a small house attached. I looked at one house in SW Idaho on 5 acres with a 2500 SF shop, roll up doors on both ends, and a gantry crane. Sounds good.

My co-worker is aiming for the same thing, he doesn't care how big the actual living area is. He is looking for a 3 car garage, at least, or like a detached barn/garage type kinda home so he can store all of his tools in. I made a joke once and said: hey I might have to borrow your garage and tools to do upgrades on the truck, he said HELL YEAH lol He also owns a 4 banger.

But it looks like a minimum of 20x20 will do.
