My 2020 sport has Firestone on the 4 corners, and a Hankook for the spare

Yes same Even I even complain To Toyota USA they cheeped out giving 16” not same size wheel & tire brand that comes with the Tacoma’s so I bought a 17” Oem factory spare & had a matching toyo tire put on it so all 5 match now selling my 16” Hancock spare on CL so Toyota doesn’t care & wont do anything about it FYi

I have a stock matching spare firestone on the steel wheel. I need to find 265/70/17 AT tire for my spare sooner than later.

Yep thats the one I have. What is it with Toyota and tires? Trying to meet MPG. I didnt question the tires because I knew they were coming off soon but damn, 2 different brands surprised me.

It’s the same height what they told me over the phone as the 17” that come with the Tacoma so that’s all they care about it it’s a cost saving Tactic i am sure. they sell “17 spare wheels & you can have the matching tire put on it and problem solved is what I did.

So much pent-up anger in this thread . . . about a spare tire.

It reminds me of the first compact spare days on cars. Folks got all twisted up and rarely used them. I think I used a spare twice in 30yrs of driving?

BTW, mine came with Toyos that were crap in the wet and a Firestone spare in the same size. The wet traction was a massive concern over anything related to the spare tire.

For what it’s worth, my 2020 OR came with a steel rim with a matching tire (Goodyear wrangler a/t). I bought a 5th rim to do a 5 tire rotation. This is in part because I plan to do a off-road/on-road swap and the off road tires are a different size (33”).

I'd throw a set of donuts on the back. The burnouts would be fantastic

All four for some lowered cornering.

    BTW, I like this:

Those soda relationships were spot on, but I just ain't commenting in SR5 versus Sport versus OR threads. Not worth the time.

Yep. I had them on my 2016 and on my 2020. No traction on wet pavement. Leaving the dealership in my 2020, the parking lot was barely wet from a little rain and the exit was slightly uphill, and even being easy on the throttle it broke traction. To be fair, they weren't great anywhere else either, but they were terrible in wet conditions.

It is strange that I found them oddly decent off road and in snow. I was expecting worse with the problems they had in the wet. The current ATs are better in all cases though, including dry cornering.

On my 2016 OR and my 2019 OR they both had matching wrangler tires on a steel rim for the spare. I had a buddy that bought a Hyundai and he got a flat and went in the trunk to grab the spare and all that was there was a can of fix a flat from Hyundai themselves. Talk about cost savings. He had to get a tow because he hit metal in the road and it sliced the sidewall and no can of fix a flat can touch that. Simple flat turned In to a tow to a dealership.

Same on a Caddy my old boss bought. A can of Fix-a-Flat and a shitty pump in a full size tire well. Laughed and laughed.

No. Never liked Toyos. I was between the Geolandar G051s SL and Wildpeak SL. Ended up with the Wildpeaks due to peer pressure.
